People often ask me to explain what I do as a coach, but the truth is, it’s hard to explain. Instead, let me tell you some of the roles I play: confidante, collaborator, encourager, source of grace, solutions architect, accountability partner, progress promoter, and ally.

Before our first meeting, you will receive an email asking you two things: What is on your mind? What question could potentially turn your life around if you got the answer to it?

During our first session together, we will spend about 30 minutes getting to know one another and the rest of the time we will tackle the question. There is no obligation or selling during this session, but if I think I can help, you will be given option to continue the discussion.

This is not therapy because I don’t focus on the past. We will focus on what is going on now and what is possible in the future.

Still curious? Here is the story of one of my clients. At work, she was struggling with her emotions when colleagues didn’t perform up to her standards. She has learned how to not show her disappointment and anger – which is huge – but those emotions are eating her up on the inside. In coaching, we worked on ways to express difficult feelings without jeopardizing relationships. She now has a variety of tools to dispel that negativity and has improved her professional relationships.
